arch-pkgfind
pkgf — an fzf-based package picker for Arch Linux repos and the AUR, inspired by
Omarchy's omarchy-pkg-install, omarchy-pkg-aur-install and omarchy-pkg-remove.
Features
- Repo and AUR packages in one list, switchable on the fly
- Live preview of package info, or the PKGBUILD (
alt-b) - Already-installed packages are marked; AUR entries are tagged
- Deduplicates packages that appear in several repos (e.g. CachyOS
-v3repos vsextra), keeping the one pacman would actually install - No
--noconfirm: you still get to review PKGBUILDs before AUR builds - Remove mode for explicitly installed packages (
pacman -Rns), toggled withctrl-r
Requirements
pacman, fzf(≥ 0.40),bashparuoryayfor AUR support (pkgf offers to installparuif neither is present)bat(optional, syntax-highlighted PKGBUILD preview)
Install
make install # copies to ~/.local/bin/pkgf
make link # or symlink, for hacking on it
make PREFIX=/usr/local install # system-wide (needs sudo)
Make sure ~/.local/bin is on your PATH (fish: fish_add_path ~/.local/bin).
Usage
pkgf install (repos + AUR)
pkgf -p install, repos only
pkgf -a install, AUR only
pkgf -r remove explicitly installed packages

Switching modes clears the search and selections. Switching back restores the
starting install filter (all, repos, or AUR), not the last filter chosen with
ctrl-s/p/a. Starting with pkgf -r returns to all, or repos only if no AUR
helper is available. Enter still requires pacman's confirmation before removal.
Checks
make check
bash tests/toggle.sh # mocked package commands; no packages installed or removed
